Decorating is a super important part of a bakery. It's the first thing your guests or clients see and the final result that all of their guests will see, so it makes sense to feel stressed and nervous. But don't worry! You've come to the right place.
First things first: you need you use the proper tools
Turntable, cake leveler, spatulas, piping bags and piping tips. Use these to your advantage! They can make it a lot easier to create specific designs, and they come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and prices.
Think outside the box!
If you're nervous or unsure about how to place icing on your cake, just pour some chocolate syrup or caramel sauce over the top and let it drip. Get creative with your own new & exciting designs!
Skip the frosting
There's nothing wrong with a naked cake! Just add a little bit of fruit on top and let the spongy layers speak for themselves.
Frosting and crumbles, your new best friends
If you keep trying to make a totally smooth and flat frosted cake and can't get it right, throw some cookie crumbles on it! They'll give it a rustic touch and people will think it's intentional!
I still want a smooth frosted cake!
Well, the secret is cooling the cake completely! Start with a very thin layer of frosting. This is called a crumb coat and it gets rid of any leftover crumbs!
Remember to use spatulas and a cake turntable to make it even easier.
