Buttercream is one of the star preparation of any confectioner. However, it can also be hard to control. Keep reading and discover how to prevent it from melting and achieve a perfect consistence to garnish your cakes, cupcakes, and any delicious creations.

Are you ready?

The traditional buttercream is prepared with: Italian meringue, butter, cream cheese, condensed milk or shortening. This type of buttercream varies in its softness, for which some will not endure in very hot temperatures or in very complicated decoration designs.

If you want to show off your cake and that the buttercream lasts in ideal conditions for a long time, the best ways to achieve it are the following:

Option 1

1. Beat 1 1/3 cup of butter and 1 cup of shortening at low speed for 1 minute.

2. With a spatula, incorporate everything well into the center of the bowl.

3. Continue beating at medium-high speed for 3 minutes.

4. Add 5 cups of icing sugar, a splash of Vanilla Molina Clear and a pinch of salt.

5. Beat for 1 minute until well incorporated and gradually add 2 tablespoons of water.

6. Decorate your cakes.

Option 2

If you do not want to use shortening, prepare it this way:

1. Mix 2 tablespoons of powdered grenadine for 5 tablespoons of water into a microwave-safe container until there's no lumps left.

2. Let it hydrate for 5 minutes.

3. Then, microwave for 10 seconds.

4. Remove and allow to cool the mixture BEFORE ADDING IT TO THE BUTTERCREAM.

5. Add it to the buttercream and beat until everything is incorporated.

6. Decorate your cakes.

In this way your buttercream will take an ideal firmness without changing its flavor, color, or consistency.

Do the test! And you will see that your cake will look beautiful for a long time without having to refrigerate it.
